Javier Garay presented “Crony Capitalism: Exploring a Concept” at the 2025 IPSA World Congress of Political Science in Seoul.
The presentation formed part of the panel “Institutions, Inequality, and Authoritarian Politics.” It examined how crony capitalism is studied, including the methodological approaches, sectors, and regions represented in the research reviewed.
This work connects with the research behind Emergentia’s Crony Capitalism project. Understanding how the concept is defined and investigated provides a foundation for examining the relationship between political connections, institutions, and economic activity.
The presentation documents an academic milestone in this research trajectory. The conference program listed Javier Garay’s affiliation as Universidad Externado de Colombia.
