Emergentia at the 3rd IDB Research Conference

Events · September 14–15, 2026

Emergentia attended the third IDB Research Conference, focused on Demographic Transition and Development in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The conference offered an opportunity to explore the relationship between demographic change and the region’s development challenges. The program included the keynote “A Recent Population History of Latin America” by Jesús Fernández Villaverde of the University of Pennsylvania, followed by a conversation with Ernesto Schargrodsky of the Inter-American Development Bank.

For Emergentia, these conversations connect with a central concern of our work: understanding complex changes and their implications for public policy. Demographic trends provide an important lens for examining how societies evolve and how institutions can prepare for changing needs.

Our attendance reflects our interest in engaging with research that helps frame better questions about Latin America and the Caribbean’s future.
